In Balance Continuum of Care

In Balance was founded by Patrick and Betsy Barrasso who still own and operate all of the programs with the help of their three children and many amazing staff. In Balance Continuum consists of In Balance Intensive Outpatient program, In Balance Academy, In Balance Transitional Living and In Balance Alumni Continuing Care Services. All of In Balance Continuum of Care's therapeutic services have earned the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval® for Behavioral Health Care Accreditation. In Balance Intensive Outpatient was founded in 1996. It originally was a group for gang affiliated youth that grew to be one of the largest substance abuse outpatient providers in Arizona. It still serves the people of Tucson 3 days a week, men and women 18 and older who have substance abuse and co-occuring disorders. In Balance Academy opened its doors in 2004 with 5 brave young men. Today it has grown to be one of the best therapeutic boarding schools in the world serving 48 young men and their families at a time. In Balance Academy is for young men, 13-17.5yo who have substance abuse and co-occuring disorders and need long term care. In Balance Transitional Living was founded in 2006 initially just to serve as an aftercare for the In Balance Academy boys. Shortly after opening, we started getting calls from professionals and programs asking us to admit their young men as well. Now our young adult services include Transitional Living and a Collegiate Recovery program and serve young men, 17-28yo who have substance abuse and co-occuring disorders and who have successfully completed primary care treatment all over the world that need aftercare. In Balance Alumni Continuing Care Services grew out of necessity. Our young adults were graduating, wanting to stay in Tucson, and wanting to stay part of the community. What started as one house in 2008, has grown into 5 houses all around Tucson, AZ. The flourishing recovery community continues to grow. In Balance Alumni Continuing Care Services program is designed for young men who have successfully completed our treatment, ages 17-28yo with substance abuse and co-occuring disorders. It provides optional housing, drug testing, community meetings, an amazing recovery community, therapy and more! Patrick Barrasso, LCSW and Betsy Barrasso have been married since 1979. Patrick is the CEO of In Balance Continuum of Care. He still oversees the clinical care of every single client and meets with the Academy boys every Monday and Wednesday. Betsy is the Admissions Director for the Academy and helps run the programs from the administrative side. Patrick and Betsy's oldest child, Tiffany Gallego, got her Masters in Social Work and helped open the Transitional Living Program in 2006. She is the Program Director of the Transitional Living program and the Director of Clinical Services for the Young Adult Programs. Next, Anthony Barrasso joined the team bringing with him a Masters in Law and Masters in Public Administration. Anthony is the Chief Operating Officer and helps run In Balance Academy while being the company's comptroller. Lastly, their youngest son, Daniel Barrasso, MSW, pursued a Masters in Social Work. Daniel is the Outreach Director for the whole continuum, Admissions Director for the young adult services, Program director for In Balance Collegiate Recovery and Transitional Living, and carries a caseload of a couple clients at a time. Every member of the family has dedicated themselves to the service of our families and clients with a passion and love for the work. The intensive outpatient program (IOP) located on Grant was 10 weeks very well spent and has made a significant difference in my life.
